If the Walmart ad below doesn’t inspire you to reach your full potential, then I don’t know what will.
It features a young man named Patrick who suffered with both intellectual and physical disabilities ever since he was born.
“When you’re like me, people don’t always give you a chance,” Patrick says. “They put me in a different school. They put me on a different team. They talk to me in a different way. But I never wanted to be treated any differently. I wanted to be independent.”
In turn, Patrick never let his disability hold him back from accomplishing things other people his age did just like the athlete with cerebral palsy. He learned to drive, always participated in sporting events, and even got a job at the children’s toys manufacturer Little Tikes.
Watching the video, it’s easy to be inspired by his drive and ability to keep pushing forward no matter what obstacles he faces, like the heartbreaking one at the :50 mark.
His words at the end of the ad are the most inspirational of all: “My whole life people have been telling me I have a learning disability. I guess they’re right because I never learned how to give up.”
