Mannequins are supposed to display clothes and accessories as the average person would wear them – but for people with disabilities, mannequins can make them feel inadequate. That’s why Pro Infirmis, a charity organization for people with disabilities, decided to embark on an incredibly special project….

The organization came up with the idea to create a variety of mannequins. After measuring, molding and setting up the mannequins, they were to displayed alongside “regular” mannequins in a Swedish storefront. “Between the ‘perfect’ mannequins, there will be figures representing everyone in society. The campaign has been devised for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by Pro Infirmis…”

Mark Zumbühl, a member of the Pro Infirmis Executive Board, explained why this project is so important for shaping society’s perception. He said, “We often go chasing after ideals instead of accepting life in all its diversity. We strive especially for the acceptance.” These mannequins will hopefully help us all understand that regardless of outside appearance we are all the same on the inside! Take a peek at their incredible project for yourself by pressing “play” on the video below.
