Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), 83, was caught on camera stumbling in a hallway of a Senate office building on Thursday.

As he made his way to the Capitol for votes, he reached for an aide’s arm just before losing his balance. He was quickly helped to his feet by the aide and a security guard and appeared uninjured.

McConnell, who announced in February that he will not seek another term next year, seemed otherwise fine.

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) fell on Thursday, October 16, 2025, while being questioned in a Senate office building hallway. He reached for an aide’s arm just before stumbling but was quickly helped to his feet by the aide and a security guard. The 83-year-old lawmaker waved to bystanders before hobbling away.

“He’s all good,” McConnell’s spokesperson told The Post. “[He] went on to vote and [is] ready to vote again … to see if Democrats decide to fund our nation’s defense priorities or not.”

Footage of the fall was captured by the activist group Sunrise Movement. McConnell, the longest-serving party leader in Senate history, has experienced several falls and health scares in recent years, including moments where he froze on camera. After a series of incidents in February, he briefly relied on a wheelchair.

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), 83, remains in good health despite a series of recent incidents.

“Senator McConnell is fine,” his spokesperson said. “The lingering effects of polio in his left leg will not disrupt his regular schedule of work.”

The seven-term senator previously suffered a sprained wrist and facial cuts after a fall during a lunch at the Capitol last December. A more serious fall in early 2023 led to a brief hospitalization for a concussion and a fractured rib.

McConnell’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
