Over the years, we’ve told countless stories that demonstrate the unwavering loyalty of our canine companions.

There was the Doberman who jumped into action to defend his family from four cobras; the Labrador who kept an injured teenage boy warm until help could arrive; and the pup who spent some time each day mourning at his owner’s grave. Wonderfully, another story about a dog’s steadfast devotion has emerged out of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In May, 28-year-old Jesus Hueche was out in his yard pruning a tree when he fell from a limb. His head hit the pavement and he couldn’t move. Fortunately, neighbors witnessed the incident and immediately called for help.

When emergency service workers arrived, this is what they saw:

Jesus rescued Tony off the streets and made a friend and devoted companion for life. “He goes everywhere with me,” the man said.

As he was fitted with a brace, Tony refused to leave his owner’s side, and even tried to climb into the ambulance after he was loaded up. (Sorry, no dogs allowed.)

Fortunately, Jesus received only minor injuries in the fall and was able to return home the same day. We’re sure Tony and Jesus’s reunion was adorable and one for the record books. Here’s to many more snuggle sessions, not on pavement, but in a comfy bed!
