Homemade bread is delicious but can take quite a while to make and usually creates a mess in the process. The chef from the SimpleCookingChannel shared the video below on how to make bread using just two ingredients. According to him, the results are “yummy!”

All you need to make this simple bread is ice cream and self-rising flour. If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can simply add 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to all-purpose flour, and it will act as self-rising flour. The Hungry Housewife points out that you can use any flavor of ice cream you want in the bread and that the ice cream “only slightly sweetens the bread and lends just a tiny bit of the flavor of the ice cream.” The chef from the SimpleCookingChannel uses vanilla ice cream.

Soften 2 cups of ice cream by letting it sit out or by placing it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Pour 1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour in with the ice cream and mix thoroughly. Spoon your dough into a greased loaf pan and place into an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The bread takes 35 to 50 minutes to bake. The Hungry Housewife says that a toothpick will have just a few crumbs on it when stuck into the bread. Taste of Home gives one word of caution for those tempted to use low-fat ice cream: Don’t. To get the right results, use full-fat ice cream in this recipe.

With bread that is this easy to make, what are you waiting for? Take a few minutes to reward yourself with some fresh, homemade bread without slaving away in the kitchen or creating a colossal mess you’ll have to clean up later.
