City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested by ICE agents Tuesday during a chaotic confrontation outside a federal immigration court, his campaign confirmed.
Video footage shows Lander repeatedly demanding to see a judicial warrant as agents attempted to detain a man. He kept his hand firmly on the man’s shoulder, refusing to let go. After several tense moments, a voice can be heard saying, “Take him in,” prompting agents to place Lander in handcuffs.
“You don’t have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens,” Lander protested, according to video shared by an amNY reporter.
Sources told The Post that Lander was arrested on a charge of obstructing governmental administration.

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Lander, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for mayor, had been at the federal immigration court to observe proceedings following President Trump’s recent directive for ICE to intensify enforcement efforts in New York City.
“While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad Lander was approached by masked agents and taken into custody by ICE,” said Lander spokesperson Dora Pekec. “This situation is still developing, and we are monitoring it closely.”
