The discussions and different approaches about what’s best for toddlers are endless.

There are mothers out there who think it’s best to breastfeed as much as possible while others claim breastfeeding is not as necessary as we think.

Everyday there seems to be new ideas from parents, pediatricians and experts on what we should be feeding our kids, which kindergarten to put them in, what their sleeping habits should be… just to name a few things.

At the end of the day, every parent will have their own opinion about what’s best for their child.

Spanish blogger Jaione is one parent that had enough of being told ‘what’s best’ for her children. She decided to write what she thinks is actually the best for all infants in the world.

If you’re wondering what it is, please continue reading.

Targeted at mothers

In a blog post titled ‘Lo Mejor’ which translates into ‘What’s best…’, Jaione from Spain, who runs the parenting blog ‘Más allá del rosa o azul’ (Beyond pink or blue), wanted to address all mothers and especially first time mothers. Having said that, I think almost anyone can identify with the message of the post.

The post was spotted by a particular pediatrician who decided to print it out and hang it up as a sign at her clinic. One of her patients liked it so much that she shared the post on social media and it has since spread like a wildfire online.

Here you can read the post (translated from Spanish to English):

What’s best…

What’s best is not to breastfeed.
What’s best is not the baby bottle either.
What’s best is not to carry your baby.
What’s best is neither to not carry your baby.
What’s best is not laying your baby down that way.
What’s best is neither that you lay your baby down the other way.
What’s best is not that you wrap your baby up like that
What’s best is neither to wrap your baby up the other way.
What’s best is not that you give your baby puree.
What’s best is neither that you give your baby pieces of food either.
What’s best is not what your mother says.
What’s best is neither what your friend says.
What’s best is not that your baby has a nanny.
What’s best is best is neither that your baby goes to nursery or stays with it’s grandparents.
What’s best is not choosing to raise your child that way.
What’s best is best is neither choosing to raise your child the other way.

Do you know what’s really the best?
THE BEST IS YOU.
What’s best is what makes you feel good.
What’s best is what your instinct tells you is the best.
What’s best is whatever helps in making you too feel good.
What’s best is what allows you to be happy with your family.
Because if you feel good, then they get the best — that’s cause YOU are the best.
Because if you feel safe, then they feel safe too.
Because if you think you are doing well then you will be calm and happy which is what your family will be too.
BECAUSE YOU ARE THE BEST.

Let’s try and stop telling parents out there what’s best.
BECAUSE WHAT’S BEST FOR YOUR KIDS IS ACTUALLY JUST YOU.
