It seems like every day there is a new tip for grilling out there. And cooks love it because while summer may seem like the shortest season of the year, there are plenty of meals that can be crammed into the sunny season. Here are some tips for ensuring your neighbors keep coming back to your barbecues….
Have you ever spent a ton of time in the scorching heat, flipping a burger only to discover that the meat ends up dry and absent of the delicious juices that melt in your mouth? Well thank to this very simple and very legit tip, you will no longer be biting into a crusty dried up slab of meat.
And all you need is an ice cube!
Yep, that’s right folks. By, adding an ice cube on top of your burger pattie, it ensures that the juices maintain in tact, keeping the burger ultra tasty. Another option is to add a slab of butter, but an ice cube is certainly the healthier of the two. This way you can indulge on other treats from the grill.
Want to avoid those pesky, sometimes fatal wire bristles from getting in your grilled meat?
Then opt to clean your grill with a balled up piece of aluminum foil. Or, if you’re feeling really ambitious and want a deeper clean, you can cut the end of an onion and scrub the grill with the cut side down. Use tongs to hold the foil or onion while the grill is heating up and as you scrub away.
Grilling fish is a tasty and healthy option, but it tends to lead to a flaky mess with bits of fish taking over your grill top. You can prevent this by placing circular sliced lemons on the grill before lying the fish on top of the slices. Feel free to layer as much of the grill top as you’d like. You can cook one lonely piece, or fill the entire grill with onions. This will keep the grill clean and give your fish a little added lemon zing.
Unsure of how much propane you have left?
Running out of propane is the last thing you want to deal with when you are in the middle of grilling for your guests, but it’s sometimes difficult to know how much you have left. With this technique, you’ll never run out in mid-grill. Simply heat up a liquid measuring cup up with hot water. Then remove the propane canister from the grill. You will lean the propane tank slightly to the side and empty the contents of hot water from the measuring cup along one entire side of the propane tank. Then, sit the tank upright and use your hand to feel along the tank. If they tank feels cool, you have plenty of propane and if it feels warm then you are out or nearing being empty.
Grilling kabobs is a great way to add some variety to your meal, but it can be rather scary tossing a wooden skewer onto the girl. To be safe, make sure you soak the skewers in cold water for fifteen to twenty minutes before filling them up with meats and veggies.
