What better way to wake up on a weekend than with the unmistakably divine aroma of vanilla and cinnamon gently wafting throughout your house? With this recipe from Crock-Pot for slow cooker cinnamon swirl french toast casserole, you be able to create an unforgettable treat with minimal effort.
One of the best aspects of this recipe is how you can simplify it while maintaining its knockout flavor. For example, using cinnamon swirl bread to begin rather than plain bread amps up the deliciousness. Also, if you’re too lazy to crisp your bread cubes you can simply leave them out and let the get stale on their own, per Slow Cooker Adventures‘ instructions.
The Crock-Pot recipe includes a wide variety of ingredients — including dates and pecans — but Pepperidge Farm offers a more pared-down version if you prefer to keep things basic.
No matter the recipe you choose the follow, the steps are fairly similar. First, place the bread cubes in the slow cooker. Then, whisk the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and whatever other optional ingredients you want together and pour it over the bread. Cook on high for 3 to 4 hours or on low for 6 to 8.
Garnish with chopped nuts, cinnamon, or even chocolate, and serve. Oh, and try not to drool as soon as you get a whiff of its divine smell.
